Life has so many ups and downs.  This past week my husband Henry, had hernia surgery.  We were told that he had 3 of them, but had no idea the incisions would be as large as they are.  Needless to say he is walking gingerly, resting a lot, and he keeps improving.  Last October, I broke 2 bones in my foot and was in a cast for 6 weeks.  So today I am grateful!  Actually, I have been working on my gratitude level the past 6 months.  So often life does not happen the way I want.  How about you?  Does your life happen the way you plan?  One thing is for sure:  God is good.  He knows; He cares.  My life and your life is not about us.  It’s about Him.  Therefore, Ann, count your blessings.  Be grateful!

I’m grateful that there are doctors and surgeons who know what to do with broken parts.  And I am grateful that our God has made our bodies in such an amazing way that they heal.  My once broken bones are healed.  Henry’s incisions are healing.

I’m grateful that we have friends and family who gather round in times of distress.  What a blessing to not have to walk this life alone!

I’m grateful for my Shaklee business.  Because of the flexible hours, I didn’t have to take off work for Henry’s surgery and recovery.  And instead of hobbling on crutches and off to work while in a cast for 6 weeks, I could keep working from home.  Another blessing since it wasn’t too pretty on crutches!  Those of you who saw me, quit laughing.

Of course my gratitude list could go on and on, but now it’s your turn.  What are you grateful for today?

  1. Thanks, Ann, for the update on Hank – so thankful he is doing well. You are so right, we have much to be thankful for and when life is hard, we know we are not alone, but our faithful God is going through it with us. As for a gratitude list today – the beauty of Creation, the precious gift of salvation, a faithful spouse, good health, and on and on and on!!

  2. Thanks, Ann, for helping us think of things that we are grateful for. So glad to hear Hank is improving each day. I am thankful for a wonderful husband who is able to provide for our family, four beautiful teenage sons, and wonderful friends, you being one of the them. My life is blessed!

  3. Gratitude seems to be a prevalent thought these days. As we see many around us struggle with loss of jobs, sickness, or loss of loved ones, we have a constant and ever present God to walk along side us. Sooo much to be thankful for even in difficulty. I echo with others that family and friends are a gift from God. May you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day !!!!!
