Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a young Mom with a Shaklee business? Brooke Thomas tells us in an interview with Shaklee:
Congratulations to new Master Coordinator Brooke Thomas who shares her Shaklee journey and the important lessons she’s learned along the way.
What first got you interested in health and wellness?
Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma while pregnant with my oldest daughter. Doctors told me the cancer would likely return, but I was determined to write a different ending to my story. So I became a student of all things health and wellness and received my certification as a nutrition consultant, but kept finding myself being disappointed when it came to many of the “healthy” products I tried.
How did you learn about Shaklee?
My dear friend, Jenni Oates, took the time to tell me about Shaklee. She not only explained the products but showed me the integrity behind this company. Soon after I started using Shaklee products and began seeing major results in my health. Later, when I was finally open to hearing about it, Jenni and her husband Nathan shared the best product of all with me — the business. With their encouragement, six years ago I started to share what this amazing company had done for me. And one person led to another.
Did you have any trepidation about starting a Shaklee business?
I was 32 years old with two busy little girls, so I told myself this wasn’t the kind of business I wanted. The truth is, deep down, I didn’t think I could do it. I was afraid of failing, worried what people would think of me and fearful to speak in front of people or put my reputation on the line.
Who were some of the first people you began to share with?
I spoke to women who didn’t want to go back to corporate America after having babies, stay at home moms who wanted extra shopping money, single men and women looking for another stream of revenue. Entrepreneurs, Doctors, nurses, personal trainers, even my best friend who worked on Wall Street and wanted a Plan B that would facilitate her early retirement from finance so she could spend more time with her family.
Many of our successful Leaders talk about the value of community. What has been the impact of the Shaklee Family on your success?
Shaklee is a community of people who come together for the good of others and the planet we inhabit. Working alongside others who are living out their purpose, feeling like I belong, participating so fully in life, THAT is what propelled me to Master Coordinator in such a short amount of time. I have met new friends I now consider sisters and women so full of wisdom they have become like mothers to me. Each person finding joy in the success of others. Where else can you find that?
What have been some of the changes you’ve seen in yourself since starting with Shaklee?
Shaklee has not only grown me as a person but propelled me to be a successful business woman. I have discovered gifts I would have never uncovered had I not taken those first steps outside of my comfort zone. Because of Shaklee, I have also experienced places and people I wouldn’t have otherwise. I have seen remarkable health results. I have met men and women twice my age with an energy that is inspiring. Within this company we are encouraged to dream BIG…to say, ‘Why not me?’
