Soy Q & A

After drinking Shaklee’s soy shakes each day for over 20 years, I trust the safety and feel the energizing power. If you have any questions, Shaklee shares some research in the following article and if you would like to talk more about the benefits of soy, please let me know.

soy info
What Is Soy?
Soy is the perfect plant-based protein—it contains all 9 essential amino acids. The soybean is native to East Asia and is known mostly as an alternative to meat and dairy proteins. Soy has been a part of Asian diets for thousands of years—and for good reason. Today it is used worldwide because of its health benefits and many uses.

Did You Know?
Soy has isoflavones

Soy is the richest source of isoflavones that may help protect against several chronic diseases, including osteoporosis, coronary heart disease, and certain forms of cancer.

Soy is not feminizing
There are rumors that soy makes men more “feminine,” but studies show that it has no effect on estrogen levels in males, and it certainly does not “feminize” them.(8)

Soy doesn’t cause breast cancer
In fact, several recent studies show that soy consumption may be associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer recurrence and improved survival.(9)

Age 65. . . Or?

65 year old Bob Ferguson says, ” Age is a very, very relative concept. If we can keep our cells dividing properly, without genetic ‘typos’, through proper, primarily plant based diet, high quality supplementation, exercise, stress management, laughter, music and touch, we can keep rolling along in fine form long past the age when prior generations felt old.”

bobferguson Champion marathoner, Mark Ramirez, who has worked at Shaklee for 43 years, and is a  friend of Bob’s agrees. “Bob, you are amazing. I turn 60 today and feel better on the first day of my 43rd year at Shaklee then I did when I first started Shaklee at 18. It doesn’t happen overnight, it’s like Aristotle says “you are what you repeatedly do – excellence therefore is not an act, it’s a habit”

If you are ready to take better care of yourself, be sure to take high quality antioxidants to ward off free radical damage in your cells. Antioxidants act like the garbage truck in your body to carry off the waste from your cells.

Ready to start a new habit? . . .  pray, read the Bible every day, feed your cells with great food and great supplements, laugh, call a friend, exercise??? At age 66 I feel better than I did at age 35, seems to be a Shaklee trend and it is never too late to start.

Is Eating Right Enough?

Do you ever wonder if it is worth the money to take vitamin supplements? Just the other day I heard a doctor on TV say that it wasn’t necessary to take vitamins if you “eat right.” Is it possible to get all the nutrients we need for a healthy body with today’s American diet? Here are three things to consider.

food affects our bodies2First, it takes a lot of good eating every day to provide our bodies with enough nutrients to feed our trillions of cells properly. 98% of Americans do not eat the recommended seven to nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Therefore, we no longer die from infectious diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis, but instead we are falling apart from within. Heart disease is the cause of 1 in every 4 deaths and did you realize that 80% of all heart disease in women is preventable?  America ranks 7th highest in the world for cancer occurrence. Diabetes plagues 25.8 million children and adults in America and did you know that 90% of all Type 2 diabetes is preventable? Does it look like we are doing a good job of “eating right?”

Second, besides trying to “eat right,” our food is not the same as it was 100 years ago. The Journal of American College of Nutrition stated that a study of 43 crops showed a decline in the nutrient content of up to 38% over the past 50 years. Because of the decline of nutrients in our foods, 90% of Americans fall short in getting essential nutrients in our diets. Just think for a moment. . .did the food you are putting in your grocery cart even exist 50 years ago? So would a supplement help or hurt your body?shakleecover photo2

Third, I don’t think you should take vitamins that are synthetic. Your body (liver) will just have to detoxify them. If you are going to get some extra help feeding your cells, be sure to check if the supplements you are taking meet the following requirements:

~ clinical studies on the ingredients or products

~ natural ingredients on the label–avoid artificial sweeteners, flavors, and preservatives

~  a company that focuses on safety and quality

~ provides an unconditional money-back guarantee

So, if you can “eat right,” knowing that the nutrient content is questionable, and that you are getting a guaranteed supply of essential nutrients every single day, go for it! But if you think your body (cells) need some help with supplements, take some good ones! Remember, each of your cells is made of vitamins, minerals, fats, and proteins, so feed them well.

Thankful for Busy Moms

Moms keep busy. . . taking children where they need to go, feeding kids what they need to eat, dressing children in clothes that fit for the changing seasons, and teaching them how to “get on” in this fast paced technical world. Sometimes that involves helping with homework. Our grandson was learning about community workers and showing these workers as turkeys to go along with the Thanksgiving season. His assignment was to make a turkey which highlighted community musicians. Don’t you love this very creative musician turkey? samuel's turkey

As grandparents we are so grateful that our children are taking their work seriously in feeding the grandchildren, getting them to bed on time, along with hundreds of other jobs, but most of all in teaching them to love the Lord!

One BIG task is feeding children. Moms all around the country are looking for ways to build healthier families by eating as close to nature as possible. Check out what these moms are doing: Jenni Oates and Brooke Thomas.

Here are a couple of healthy recipes that you,  your kids, and your grandkids will love. Best of all, you will have a great way to add some much needed protein to your diet!

Sneezy and Itchy? No Longer

FreshLauFree32ozBot_300_V3_lo_rezThanks Sal. I love this great testimony!

I purchased the same off-the-shelf laundry detergent for years. So often, though, I was sneezy and itchy, especially after putting freshly laundered sheets on my bed. A close friend suggested that I try Shaklee’s laundry detergent. Since I already used other Shaklee products, this was an easy switch for me. I was—and still am—thrilled with that decision! Shaklee laundry detergent not only gets my clothes cleaner than any other product I’ve used, it also smells clean and fresh; and I’m no longer sneezy and itchy! The fact that it’s good for the environment and economical is a bonus.
